On 28 February 2026, a ceremony in Bac Ninh marked the traditional Lim Festival's recognition as national intangible cultural heritage.

The gathering brought attention to a festival whose importance extended beyond the stage. It was a meeting place for local customs, collective memory and the distinctive Quan Ho singing tradition.

For generations, the festival had brought people together around Lim Hill. Ceremonies, traditional clothing and call-and-response singing had made the event a living expression of the Kinh Bac region. The recognition in 2026 placed that shared cultural space in the national spotlight.

Rather than treating heritage as something frozen in a museum, the festival showed how it continued through participation: people travelled, gathered, listened and performed. Movement and community remained central to the experience.
